Rena is a quilter, a dyer of fabric, and a soap maker. The main inspiration for her work comes from nature’s colors and scents. Color is the primary focus in her textile work When I couldn’t find fabrics in quilt shops in colors that she wanted she decided to learn how to dye fabric. Several of the dye techniques that she uses incorporate a bit of serendipity that produces unexpected but beautiful results. She dyes fabric for use in quilts and other textile arts as well as various clothing items.
Rena actually learned to make soap at a workshop at Stecoah Valley Center many years ago and became hooked on the process. Her soaps are simple using only natural ingredients with pure essential oils providing the scent.
Rena has been a gallery artist since 2006.
