Come learn about the history and preservation of rivercane while making a flute and leather pouch from renowned Cherokee artist, Billy (B.J.) Welch. Simple instruction in playing the flute is a part of the class. All tools and materials provided – perfect for beginners and youth.
Welch is a treasured Snowbird artist well known for his clan mask carvings – a set of his clan masks are on display in our auditorium. Welch’s work has been collected by the Smithsonian institution and a recent PBS documentary about him and his work recently won a Grammy award.
