Pysanky Egg Painting

NOTE: Class takes place in three sessions on March 12, 14 & 16 from 2-4 pm. 

Join in on the discovery of creating or “writing” Pysanky eggs. They are the beautiful, colorful detailed Easter eggs originating in the Ukraine culture and date back through the centuries. We are offering a workshop over 3 afternoons in March, exploring the history, symbolism and techniques of writing Pysanka. (“Writing” is what the process of creating them is called) The main focus will be on learning the process of writing and dying your own Pysanky to enjoy in your home for years to come.

Workshops will include a kit of basic tools and materials for creating your own eggs to take home with you. The eggs will be pre-blown and ready for you to complete your designs. Patterns and design samples as well as pre-mixed dyes will be provided by the teacher.  Note- The dyes do stain, so wear appropriate clothes and/or an apron. Neoprene or latex gloves come in handy for handling the wet dyes and dyed eggs, so bring some if you wish to use them.
