SUMMARY:Kruger Brothers
DESCRIPTION:Brothers Jens and Uwe Kruger were raised in an European family where music was an important part of life. The brothers leaned in to those musical influences and were performing regularly even before they were teenagers. Their professional career started as a duo\, but in time\, they teamed up with bass player Joel Landsberg\, a native of New York City who also had a very extensive musical upbringing in classical and jazz music (studying with jazz great Milt Hinton). This trio that has been playing professionally together since 1995\, moving to the United States in 2002. \nSold out audiences are enamored with The Kruger Brothers’ creative infusion of classical into folk music\, making them a fixture within the world of acoustic music. The Kruger Brothers personify the spirit of exploration and innovation that forms the core of the American musical tradition. \nKeeping the sound fresh\, Kruger Brothers recently began taking mandolin player Jonah Horton along with them on tour. Horton’s former band\, The Trailblazers\, was 2018 Momentum Band of the Year\, and he is known for his fresh take on traditional bluegrass. He is also an instructor for Kruger Academy. \nTickets: Adults $30; Students/K-12 $10; plus tax. All concerts are in the fully restored Lynn L. Shields Auditorium. Dinner is available for purchase in the Schoolhouse Cafe beginning at 6 pm.  Your tickets will be available at our ‘will call’ desk prior to the event. SUMMARY:Resonant Rogues
DESCRIPTION:Western North Carolina-based outfit The Resonant Rogues finesse the line between country and soul. The keening of the fiddle and the sway of the pedal steel are classic sounds; the vocals — sung by Sparrow who fronts the band with her partner Keith Josiah Smith — are poetic and wistful\, yet unfussy. Their sound encapsulates a moment; something as lovely as it is fleeting. \nSparrow and Keith share a passion for movement and sound. Both traveled extensively throughout the U.S. — Keith by hopping freight trains\, Sparrow with a circus troupe. When the two met by chance in Asheville 10 years ago\, they combined their talents and The Resonant Rogues were born. While the band has explored musical styles from across genres and around the globe\, current influences for Resonant Rogues\, and especially their current album\, are classic country\, Appalachian old-time\, and vintage soul. \nSongs nod to country poets like Guy Clark and Townes Van Zandt and deliver a comprehensive collection of stories\, journeys\, memories\, and landscapes. With Sparrow’s jaunty accordion and a haunting harmonica\, they create a sonic thread\, weaving a modern interpretation of the classic styles\, an embrace of rock-n-roll energy\, and a sound that’s still as folky as ever.

SUMMARY:House of Hamill
DESCRIPTION:Rose Baldino and Brian Buchanan first found themselves onstage together at the 2014 Folk Alliance International conference in Kansas City. Rose’s band Burning Bridget Cleary was scheduled to perform\, but inclement weather prevented two of her bandmates from flying. Desperate to salvage the showcase\, Rose approached Brian\, who she knew fronted Canadian Celtic rock band Enter the Haggis. She thrust a guitar into Brian’s hands\, pulled him onstage\, and the two just clicked. \nFour years and hundreds of shows later\, the duo was booked to play a closing slot at a Colorado festival\, so they hired a bass player and drummer to fill out their sound. By the oddest of coincidences\, their hired bandmates’ flights were canceled the day of the show. A frantic Facebook post introduced Brian and Rose to local musician Caroline Browning\, who joined them on bass for the weekend. Once again\, the chemistry was undeniable\, and House of Hamill became a trio. \nToday\, Pennsylvania-based House of Hamill is a fixture on festival stages across the US. They’ve shared their music and stories on the country’s premier folk stages. Their latest release\, “Folk Hero\,” captures perfectly the frenetic energy and eclecticism of their always engaging live show. this lively collection of original instrumentals\, reimagined folk ballads\, and new songs showcases the trio’s versatility. Whether they’re ripping through a set of original jigs and reels\, adding lush three-part harmonies into traditional folk ballads\, or cracking up an audience with stories from the road\, House of Hamill puts on a show that captivates audiences from the very first note. \nTickets: Adults $20; Students/K-12 $10; plus tax. All concerts are in the fully restored Lynn L. Shields Auditorium. Dinner is available for purchase in the Schoolhouse Cafe beginning at 6 pm. \nYour tickets will be available at our ‘will call’ desk prior to the event. SUMMARY:Appalachian Smoke
DESCRIPTION:Whether you are drawn to clever lyrics\, dynamic instrumentation\, full harmonies\, unpredictable arrangements\, or an authentic delivery\, you’ll find it all in an evening with Appalachian Smoke. With a sound reminiscent of the hollers of Southern Appalachia\, their music honors the history and ways of where they grew up. Yet\, these songwriters\, vocalists\, and instrumentalists’ style is one quick and varied enough to push the envelope.\nBluegrass Today describes their style as “edgy\, modern\,” adding\, “if they stick to this formula\, we’ll be hearing about Appalachian Smoke for a long time.” Their independent release\, Colder Side of Love\, earned three reviews in Bluegrass Today\, each praising their talented songwriting\, melodic arrangements\, and smooth vocal harmonies. \nTickets: Adults $20; Students/K-12 $10; plus tax. SUMMARY:Seth Mulder & Midnight Run
DESCRIPTION:Traditional bluegrass music at its best! \nSeth Mulder & Midnight Run was born in the holler of Tennessee’s first legal moonshine distillery\, where the spirit of tradition still runs strong. Since forming in 2018\, the band has been on a mission to blend the roots of traditional bluegrass with the energy of modern performance\, crafting a sound that is both deeply authentic and refreshingly original. \nWith a knack for breathing new life into forgotten covers (their electrifying take on “Johnny B. Goode” for example)\, they’ve earned acclaim for powerful delivery and timeless spirit. The band combines elements of bluegrass\, classic country\, and folk music in a way that resonates with both traditionalists and new audiences alike. Fan favorite “My\, My\, My” was named S.P.B.G.M.A.’s 2023 Song of the Year.\nAcross the U.S.\, Canada\, and Europe\, their high-energy live shows earned them a reputation as one of the most exciting young acts on the bluegrass circuit today. As one reviewer put it\, “In a day and age where authenticity is everything\, Seth Mulder & Midnight Run are the real deal.” \nTickets: Adults $25; Students/K-12 $10; plus tax. All concerts are in the fully restored Lynn L. Shields Auditorium.
