DESCRIPTION:Rose Baldino and Brian Buchanan first found themselves onstage together at the 2014 Folk Alliance International conference in Kansas City. Rose’s band Burning Bridget Cleary was scheduled to perform\, but inclement weather prevented two of her bandmates from flying. Desperate to salvage the showcase\, Rose approached Brian\, who she knew fronted Canadian Celtic rock band Enter the Haggis. She thrust a guitar into Brian’s hands\, pulled him onstage\, and the two just clicked. \nFour years and hundreds of shows later\, the duo was booked to play a closing slot at a Colorado festival\, so they hired a bass player and drummer to fill out their sound. By the oddest of coincidences\, their hired bandmates’ flights were canceled the day of the show. A frantic Facebook post introduced Brian and Rose to local musician Caroline Browning\, who joined them on bass for the weekend. Once again\, the chemistry was undeniable\, and House of Hamill became a trio. \nToday\, Pennsylvania-based House of Hamill is a fixture on festival stages across the US. DESCRIPTION:The 2016 IBMA Fiddler and Female Vocalist and the 2018 IBMA Banjo Player have combined their musical wit and whimsy with the aim to entertain you in a bluegrass duo sort of way!  \nBecky Buller has written songs for three Grammy award-winning albums by Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway; The Travelin’ McCourys; and the Infamous Stringdusters\, as well as compositions for Bluegrass legends Rhonda Vincent\, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver\, and many more. The Becky Buller Band (of which Ned is a member) is a frequent guest on WSM’s Grand Ole Opry. Her album\, Distance And Time\, was a 2021 IBMA Album Of The Year award nominee. She is a 10-time IBMA award winner and records for the Dark Shadow Recording label. The new album\, Jubilee\, releases in May 2024. Becky also serves on the boards of the IBMA Foundation and the East Tennessee State University Alumni Association and teaches private music lessons from her home studio in Manchester\, Tenn. Most importantly\, she’s Jeff’s wife and Romy’s mama.  \nNed Luberecki was inducted into the Banjo Hall Of Fame in 2024! He is the 2023 IBMA Broadcaster Of The Year\, so named for being one of our favorite voices on Sirius/XM Satellite Radio’s Bluegrass Junction\, heading up Saturday’s “Derailed” show and “More Banjo Sunday”\, which includes the ever-popular “Sunday Banjo Lesson”. He and the Bluegrass Junction team received a 2016 IBMA Distinguished Achievement award. Ned is an internationally recognized banjo guru: he teaches online lessons\, has a series of banjo instructional videos with TrueFire and a series of books with Alfred Publishing. Ned is also the voice of the IBMA Award Show. He has two singles that are doing well on the radio airplay charts: “Back In Baltimore” and “Magrathea”; listen for them wherever you grab your music. DESCRIPTION:Brothers Jens and Uwe Kruger were raised in an European family where music was an important part of life. The brothers leaned in to those musical influences and were performing regularly even before they were teenagers. Their professional career started as a duo\, but in time\, they teamed up with bass player Joel Landsberg\, a native of New York City who also had a very extensive musical upbringing in classical and jazz music (studying with jazz great Milt Hinton). This trio that has been playing professionally together since 1995\, moving to the United States in 2002. \nSold out audiences are enamored with The Kruger Brothers’ creative infusion of classical into folk music\, making them a fixture within the world of acoustic music. The Kruger Brothers personify the spirit of exploration and innovation that forms the core of the American musical tradition. \nKeeping the sound fresh\, Kruger Brothers recently began taking mandolin player Jonah Horton along with them on tour. SUMMARY:Mack Daddy Pickleball Tournament
DESCRIPTION:The Stecoah Valley Center Mack Daddy Pickleball Tournament is to raise funds for court grounds keeping and maintenance. Join in the competitive fun as a player and/or spectator.\n*************\nTournament is Round Robin. Each player plays 4 games\, each time with a different partner and different opponents. Game schedule will be posted once registration is complete.\nGames are to 11 points\, must win by 2. At the end of each game\, players report their scores to the Tournament Facilitator. The two players with the most accumulated points will be the champions. In the event of a tie\, there will be playoff match in which challengers may choose their own partners. The playoff match will be to 11 points\, must win by 2.\nMatches are self-monitored\, and rule sheets will be available. Pickleballs will be provided. If any player has a problem with a pickleball\, that person is to bring it to the Tournament Facilitator who will hold it until the end of the tournament before returning it to its owner.\nGames begin at 8am on both courts. Games will be back-to-back with a 5-minute grace period between matches (unless a player is involved in a game on the other court). Absence at game time will be considered a forfeit.\nThis is an outdoor tournament. There are no refunds for weather-related cancellations. We will make every effort to complete all events. The Tournament Facilitator reserves the right to change format\, shorten games\, or make any other changes she feels will help complete the event. The tournament is scheduled for Saturday\, May 30. Reschedule date is Saturday\, June 13.\n*************\nEligibility: ages 12 and up; any gender; Liability waiver required (minors must have guardian signature)\nOnce 24 people have registered\, there will be a waiting list.\nRegistration is $20. It is not refundable but is transferable.\n*************\nCode of Conduct: This tournament is meant to be fun. Obscene\, vulgar\, disrespectful or discriminatory language is prohibited. Aggressive and/or abusive behavior is prohibited. If all players are ready to resume play before the one-minute time-out expires\, then play may resume early.\nMedical Time-Outs on the Pickleball Court: Each player may take a medical time-out of up to 15-minutes in a game. If the player cannot resume play after 15 minutes\, the team will forfeit the match.\nIf a player is bleeding\, a time-out will be called for the player to stop the bleeding and change clothing (if applicable). However\, if the injury causing the blood is self-inflicted\, then the requesting player/team will be charged with a standard time-out. If no standard time-outs are available\, then the requesting player/team will be given a technical foul (loss of point\, or if the team’s score is 0\, a point will be given to the opposition).\nQuick Breaks on the Pickleball Court: Drink breaks or breaks to towel off are permitted between points on the pickleball court. However\, the flow of the pickleball game must not be impacted.\nEquipment Time-Out Rules: Players are generally required to keep all apparel and equipment in good playing condition and to handle any adjustments before or after games or during time-outs. With that said\, players may quickly adjust apparel and equipment between points on the pickleball court. For instance\, players may tie shoes\, clean glasses\, switch paddles\, or change hats between points on the pickleball court.

DESCRIPTION:PET PARADE HAS BEEN CANCELLED:  \nFor the first day of spring\, you are invited to take a walk with your family and pets\, a great way to start your weekend. \nPark and meet at the gym parking lot. Students can take the bus from school to Stecoah Valley Center. We’ll start the parade after the bus has turned around to leave. \nAll pets welcome. Pets must be leashed or in a carrier.  Please clean up after your pet\, if needed.  \nPets and their humans will stroll the inner loop of the Fitness Trail. (That’s in front of the building\, around the parking loop.) We hope to video the parade on FB Live. (If you would like to participate but not be videoed\, we can accommodate.) \nFollowing the parade\, pets can enjoy a pup cup and shaved ice for the hoomans. \nRSVP not required. Costumes not required but welcomed.

Appalachian Roadshow’s concerts are not just music – they also feature true stories recited in a somber tone along with masterfully delivered songs with regional significance.  \nStecoah’s historic auditorium\, with the Grand Old Stage built in 1926\, has hosted the likes of Flatt & Scruggs\, Bill Monroe\, the Carters\, Doc Watson\, and more. Experience Appalachian culture in a place that has kept its traditions with a band determined to carry them into the future. \nThe band invites everyone to join them for an old-fashioned supper in the Schoolhouse Cafe. All proceeds from the dinner benefit[s] the Stecoah Valley Cultural Arts Center whose mission is to preserve and promote Southern Appalachian culture.  Dinner is available from 6:00 -7:30 pm with a minimum donation of $25. \nThe Appalachian Roadshow – Authenticity Never Goes Out of Style \nTickets: Adults $30; Students/K-12 $10; plus tax. All concerts are in the fully restored Lynn L. Shields Auditorium. Dinner is available for purchase in the Schoolhouse Cafe beginning at 6 pm. \nYour tickets will be available at our ‘will call’ desk prior to the event.
