Hunting Boy Wood Carving is the workshop of artist and Graham County native and treasure Billy Welch. Billy is well known for his carved Cherokee clan masks. A recent PBS video essay about Billy and his work titled ‘Hunting Boy Woodcarving’ won an Emmy!
The gift shop is run by Billy’s wife Debbie where you will find hand crafted Cherokee arts and crafts including pottery, baskets, masks anymore. Billy is known for his carved masks and river cane flutes but the shop is packed with all kinds of handwork and unique gift items.
Most evenings and Saturday’s you’ll find Billy carving in the attached workshop.
